fiberbuilt
I have one of the 1' x 2' mats in my backyard. I hit way more balls off it than I do on the course and I've had it for years, at least 3 anyway. I used to get cheaper ones and never had one last one season.

There is one called a True Strike from the UK that is very good. I saw them in use in PHX in the big Golfsmith hitting rooms. Allows for good old down and out as opposed to down and bounce and up

That Fibrebuilt mat is a good one! Try your local driving range to see what is out there. They might sell you a slightly used on for a song...or a dance!

I've got a TrueStrike coming for Christmas thanks to a great wife. I was able to take advantage of Golfsmith's Friends and Family discount for 30% off. It's an expensive mat, but I've heard it is the closest thing you can find to hitting off the fairway. Unlike standard mats, you won't get acceptable results on fat shots. I'll post about it when I get it. Bucket, you'll probably be able to afford one with the revenue from your meth lab.

Word! How much did that thing run you/her? Do you think your wife could sell me half of it . . . does she have a sister or a mother . . . and are they hot?

Bucket, you're a riot. Plus, you know a heck of a lot about the golf swing and TGM. I'll bet you have no trouble finding yourself a nice southern sugar mamma' in North Carolina (that's still technically part of the south, right?).
